Privacy
Short version: your answers never leave your device. We run two analytics tools, and neither one sets a cookie by default.
What happens to your answers
The test runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are never transmitted anywhere — there is no scoring API and no database. Scoring happens in JavaScript on your own device.
To let you refresh the page without losing your place, we save your progress in your browser's own local storage. That data stays on your device, is not readable by us, and is deleted when you finish the test or clear your browser data.
We never see your individual answers, your result, or which characters you were matched to.
Analytics
We use two tools to count visits and see which pages are useful. Both are configured to minimise what they collect, and neither sets a cookie unless you explicitly opt in.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
Provided by our host. It is cookieless, does not fingerprint devices, does not track you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you. It reports aggregate page views and basic performance timings.
Google Analytics 4
This is the one that would normally set cookies, so we have turned them off. We run GA4 with consent mode defaulted to denied, with IP anonymisation enabled. In that mode GA4 does not read or write analytics cookies and does not identify you across sessions or across sites — it records anonymous, aggregate page views.
Because we default to denied and do not currently offer a consent prompt, in practice no analytics cookie is ever set. If we ever add an opt-in prompt and you accept it, GA4 would then use cookies to distinguish returning visits; that change will be reflected here before it goes live.
Like any hosted analytics service, GA4 processes data on Google's infrastructure. We do not sell, share or transfer that data to anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no email collection, no newsletter.
- No advertising cookies, and no ad or tracking scripts beyond the two analytics tools above.
- No selling or sharing of data.
- No fingerprinting, and no cross-site tracking by us.
- No cookie banner, because we do not set non-essential cookies.
Sharing your result
When you share your result, the image is generated on your device from your own result. The shared link points at a normal public page about that character — it does not contain your answers, your scores, or anything that identifies you. We cannot tell who shared what.
Server logs
Like every website, our host keeps short-lived request logs (IP address, user agent, requested path) for security and abuse prevention. We do not use them to build profiles and we do not combine them with anything else.
Blocking analytics
You can block both analytics tools without affecting the test at all — it works fully with JavaScript analytics disabled, and any content blocker or browser tracking-protection setting will stop them. Nothing about your result depends on them.
Children
This site is written for an adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page. The most likely future change is enabling a consent prompt that would let you opt in to cookies; if that happens, this page changes first.
